Super Fun Birthday

Yesterday we went to a lunch birthday party. It was Shivams birthday and he just turned double digits! When we got to Greens we were surprised to see a big batch of butter chicken sitting on the side of where we were eating! The food was immaculate and was superb. When I was eating the butter chicken we were also served with naan bread-. We also had coke! When we had finished eating we got a giant box each filled with either pineapple lumps and a easter egg or a two freddo’s and an egg. After getting our eggs we acknowledged Shivam's birthday by singing happy birthday to him. Also to say thank you to his whanau we sang his parents 3 lovely waiata! Have you ever been invited to a friends or a classmates birthday lunch before?

Tricky Task Master

Hi my name is Ebony and in Te Ngahere we have been doing task master.

A fun intelligent way to collaborate with our learning group! I enjoyed doing this task master with my group but it was a little hard. To play this game there are two runners and a drawer and you had to copy the teachers picture the best you can.  Also the drawer isn’t allowed to see the picture but there runners have to try and explain what  the picture looks like. The group with the most similar picture to the teachers wins. It was especially challenging trying to explain to Aaron where the smiley face goes and where the writing is supposed to be. But looking at the picture was pretty easy. Have you ever done taskmaster?

My Food Web

In Te Ngahere we have been learning about ecosystems, but what we are doing today is different. I am comparing my food web to my teachers food web a food web explains what producers eat, consumers eat and decomposers Another thing I have just noticed  that she has so much more arrows than me. Another one I spotted was that the colour actually means something .Same with how the arrows are pointed. Also I saw that the insects are the main one in the middle because it is the source of energy that goes in to every living animal. A food web shows what the animals eat and shows what eats it. My arrows are going the wrong way compared to my teachers. I really loved doing this food web. Have you ever done a food web chain before?

Cool Tech.

In Te Ngahere year sevens and eights get to go to tech every fortnight

(every two weeks) and creating stuff like bling bling (jewelry) and wood work. The first time going I created a taonga that was made out of wood, and the second time I went with some of my classmates we made jewellry but haven't finished. I loved doing tech! Have you ever done technology before?

Kawa Of Care

In Te Ngahere we have been learning about kawa of care (learning how to take care of our computer). As we were told this we had an option we could do an animation with google slides, powtoon like animation or a comic script or a short movie! My friend and I chose to do a movie about looking after your chromebook, we would like to show you how to prevent breaking your chromebook!

Have you ever broke one of the kawa of care rules?

Our Incredible Ecosystem!

In Te Ngahere we have been learning about mutualism, mutualism is when two things work together such as a puriri and a kereru.  The bird likes to eat puriri berries and the seeds in them. After the bird eats the berry the bird deposits the seed in its droppings, giving it natural fertiliser for the tree to grow. It can also benefit with other living organisms.

This is just one of the examples I have, I have more examples but this is the easiest I feel to teach you.  But if you already understand this example I will give you another one. This one we have a human and a plant, the human waters the plant and the plant will produce food for the human to eat. Have you ever heard about mutualism?

Spine Chilling Tsunami Scarer

  Spine Chilling Tsunami Scarer

Last Friday we got an alert on our phones saying that we had to leave our house, and run, bike or drive away from the tsunami and head more inland, and if we were near the sea go as far  inland as possible!

Ohana, Mum and I went to Morewa. Mum was freaking out and Ohana and I were calm but a little rattled from it. After we got to Moerewa Mum realised that the river could pass through KawaKawa then enter Moerewa! So Mum just stayed put and then calmed down, after getting another message to stay where you are and to not leave the area you are at. Mum realised that nothing major was going to happen and fully calmed down. Have you ever been in a tsunami or got a spine chilling scare like that?
